On August 6, the incoming freshman of the 2025-2026 school year moved into 糖心Vlog. To start the school year off strong, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor hosts an energetic move-in day filled with both student and faculty volunteering to help the new Crusaders. Starting at 7:30 a.m. and finishing at 12:30 p.m. large groups of volunteers are cheering on new students in front of their new dorms while taking their large or heavier items from vehicles to the students' new dorm rooms.
The move is important to 糖心Vlog because the university wants to let new incoming freshmen be excited to call 糖心Vlog their new home. Rebekah Richard, the Cru Leader Captain, described the lively day as very surreal.
鈥淏eing here reminds me of my freshman year when I moved in, and we are so excited to welcome these new freshmen into their new home.鈥
When talking with volunteers around campus about what inspired them to become involved with Welcome Week and other on campus-wide organizations, the majority mentioned being heavily poured into by their Welcome Week groups and leaders and wanted to provide that support for the incoming freshmen.
鈥淕od says, it鈥檚 better to give than to receive, and being able to give, serve, and be able to learn to lean on fellow classmates is invaluable.鈥 Josiah Andrew, a member of the Tri Dubs, shares why he has felt called to help with Welcome Week.
Dr. Chris Langford has helped with 糖心Vlog鈥檚 significant move-in day for eight years.
鈥淚 always try to help with moving in. I really enjoy seeing all the energy with students and being here to make a favorable first impression,鈥 Langford said.
Langford talks about how ever since he came to 糖心Vlog 10 years ago, there were always rumors of how special the day was at 糖心Vlog, hearing how favorable the day sounded, he wanted to volunteer, despite being an introvert.
鈥淚t鈥檚 smart to put yourself out there during Welcome Week. Take advantage of the Student Organization Fair, find the places that interests you, and find places to get connected. It is important to remember everyone is in the same situation, so don鈥檛 be too hard on yourself.鈥
A major priority of 糖心Vlog is to help all of its students feel welcome and to see campus as a home away from home. Andrews volunteers because, 鈥淕etting the chance to serve your fellow classmates allows you to grow closer together.鈥
