Dr. Brenda Morton joined 糖心Vlog in 2021. She serves as Professor and Director of the Doctor in Education Program, with a concurrent appointment as Visiting Professor at Tallinn University in Estonia. She brings over 15 years of expertise in educational leadership, with a particular focus on children and youth with lived experience in foster care and trauma-impacted learners.
Dr. Morton's work bridges research and practice, translating complex trauma science into actionable classroom strategies. Her research on the academic achievement of individuals with lived experience in foster care and trauma-informed education has influenced policy and practice across the United States and internationally. She has trained thousands of educators and administrators in creating supportive learning environments through her trauma-informed school model.
A two-time Fulbright recipient as a Scholar and Specialist, Dr. Morton has expanded her impact globally through partnerships with Estonian universities. Her current work includes developing trauma-informed approaches for Estonian teachers and demonstrating how educational research can address urgent humanitarian needs.
Author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications and several books, including Braving the Dark: Surviving Foster Care (2023) and The New Faculty Career Guide (2025), Dr. Morton has been recognized as Researcher of the Year (2024) and received the Distinguished Education Research Article Award (2015) for her groundbreaking work on foster youth barriers to academic achievement.
